No matter how smart you are, how good your product or service is, or how long you’ve been in business—if you can’t close the sale, you won’t ever achieve the level of wealth and success you deserve.

Whether you’re just getting started or you’re a seasoned business owner, I’m sure you’ve felt the frustration of losing a sale you deserved, and increasing your income.  And during this current recession, with sales shrinking or at best stagnating for most businesses, there is only one sure way to keep profits rolling in.

When I first started out in business, I know that I lost a lot of sales I deserved due to a whole host of common objections.  Simply because I didn’t know how to close the sale, all too many of my customers would walk away without getting the product or service they needed and I’d lose the profit I could have earned.

Even worse, I’d lose the potential profits I could have earned from getting the customer on board and helping them for years to come.

Imagine you’ve cooked a delicious meal, but then you couldn’t get anyone to eat it. That would never happen in my house, but that is what happens to all to many business owners. They have a great product or service and they can’t get enough people to use it and buy it.

There is one simple truth about selling and without it you could struggle forever to be successful.  The simple truth about selling is that your prospects, your potential customers, are better at convincing themselves to buy than you are.  Once you understand this simple strategy and start using it, you’ll close many more sales and start achieving your financial success. If you drive to work every morning, I don’t have to remind you that it takes much longer to get to work in rush hour traffic.  Even a well-designed and well-built freeway slows down to a mind-numbing crawl when it’s overloaded with cars.  Nothing is more aggravating.  You’ve got a well-tuned driving machine that could easily do 60 miles an hour and get you to work in 15 or 30 minutes. Instead, you can spend an hour or more stuck in traffic.   Your prospects’ objections are like the cars in that traffic jam, slowing down the sales process.  Eliminate those objections in advance, and you and your prospect get to the sale in half the time.

Move the obstacles off the road and clear the way for your prospects to buy.  You’ll melt their resistance and sell more of your products and services—again and again.  Use this technique to eliminate obstacles to the sale and ‘pre-sell’ your prospects. Everyone wonders whether or not there is one Great Secret for truly successful living. There is. And it is not a secret. It has been quietly, steadily telling itself right in front of us all along. We just couldn’t hear it over the clatter and chatter of our own secret demands. Listen quietly for a moment. Everything can change right now. Learning to hear this Supreme Secret is no more difficult than choosing whether to swim against a current or to let it carry you safely to the shore.  Let it speak its wisdom to that secret part of you that cannot only hear what it is saying but that is, in reality, its very voice. Listen to it now. It is saying, “Want What Life Wants.” Think about it. Locked within these four simple words is the secret of an uncompromising power for effortless living; a new kind of power that never fails to place you on the winning side of any situation. Why?  Because when you want what Life wants, your wish is for Life itself.

“What if I don’t like what Life brings to me?”

“Try to see that it is not what Life has brought to you that you don’t like. It is your reactions that turn the gift of Life into the resentment of it.”

“I don’t want to sound ungrateful but speaking plainly, I’m tired of being unhappy. What difference does it make why I feel this way?”

“Because these unhappy feelings are born out of Life failing to conform to your ideas of what you need to be happy. This shows you, if you will see it, that Life itself isn’t denying you happiness. Your false nature will tell you that you must have these self-protecting ideas; that you can’t live without them or you will lose something valuable. What you must do, in spite of any such protest to the contrary, is to see that you can’t live with them. All you will lose is your unhappiness.”

“Is there a simple guideline to follow when it comes to distinguishing between what Life wants and what I want? How can I easily tell which is which?”

“Always remember the following. If any want is the source of anxiety or sorrow, that want is yours and not Life’s. If the want has pain, it is in vain. To let Real Life flood in, pull yourself out of the flood of self-wants that promise a future pleasure but only deliver a present pain.”

“How do I pull myself out of the flood of my own wants?”

“See that you are being washed away by them and you will grow tired of being bounced along. Here is a key. Never accept the presence of any mental or emotional suffering as necessary no matter how much importance these impostors lend to a particularly pressing want. By refusing their dark presence, you make space for the real Present. This is where the Life you want and that wants you is waiting.”

Let Life bring you itself. Welcome it. At each instant, it is new, full — untouched and undiminished by any moment before it. To enter into this full relationship with Life is to give yourself to your Self. Fulfilling the true purpose of Life is fulfilling yourself. They are one and the same. Want What Life Wants.

Increase Your Earnings 1000%!

Here’s an exercise for you; imagine that it’s possible for you to ear n ten times your current annual wage. If you’re ear ning $25,000, imagine for a moment that it’s possible for you to ear n $250,000, a 1000% increase.

Believe In Yourself
The first reaction of most people to that exercise is to smile briefly and then to begin thinking about why it isn’t possible. One man said to me, “If you knew how many years it’s taken for me to get to what I’m ear ning today you wouldn’t be suggesting that I could ear n ten times as much.”

There Are No Excuses
Mark Twain once wrote that there are a thousand excuses for every failure but never a good reason. The tragedy of the average American is that whereas his or her main preoccupation seems to be money, or the lack thereof, the average person has the inherent potential to ear n far more than he or she is doing currently.

Can Someone Be 10x Better?
Is the manager ear ning $250,000 per year ten times as smart as the manager ear ning $25,000? 10 times as experienced? Does he or she work 10 times harder? Of course not. None of these are physically or mentally possible, but there are people in every business ear ning many times more than others with the same average age, experience and intelligence.

I.Q. Doesn’t Really Matter
In fact, a few years ago in New York, a thousand men and women were selected at random and tested for I.Q. Between the one having the highest I.Q. in this sample and the one with the lowest, there was a difference of only 2 1/2 times. But between the person ear ning the most, who by the way, was not the one with the highest I.Q. and the one ear ning the least, who was not the one with the lowest I.Q., there was a difference of 100X in inc ome.

Action Exercises
Here are two things you can do to start increasing your earnings:

First, identify the highest ear ning, most successful people in your field and find out what it is that they are doing differently from others who aren’t doing as well. Resolve to copy them every day.

Second, set a goal to double your earnings over the next two or three years and then figure out what you’ll have to do to achieve it. Get started!
